DUI Services

If you have received a DUI arrest, PEER Services is here to help. We are licensed by the State of Illinois to provide DUI Risk Education classes for adults and teens required to take such classes by the Illinois Secretary of State’s office. While all individuals with a DUI in Illinois must complete Risk Education, the Secretary of State may require you to participate in additional substance abuse treatment based on results of your DUI Evaluation.

At PEER Services, we can help you meet any treatment requirements. If you live in Illinois, but received a DUI out of state, or if you live in another state and received a DUI in Illinois, please call to learn how to complete your court requirements at PEER Services. As a licensed DUI provider, we are able to fulfill these out-of-state requirements.

DUI Evaluation
The first step toward meeting court requirements for a DUI is to obtain a DUI Evaluation. If your DUI arrest took place in Cook County, the court requires that you obtain an evaluation from Cook County Social Services. After you complete the evaluation, we can help you meet the court’s and the Secretary of State’s requirements.

Risk Education
Risk Education is a ten-hour education program consisting of four sessions, each two and a half hours long. All individuals assessed at Level 1 or Level 2 Risk must complete Risk Education. Risk Education classes are held on Monday mornings from 9 am – 11:30 am over Zoom. Reach out to sign-up for next class cycle. The fee for Risk Education is $250. 

DUI Services and Levels of Risk
We have services that will help you meet any of the levels of education and/or treatment that the Illinois Secretary of State may require of you.

Level 1: Minimal Risk
If you have been assessed to be at minimal risk, the Secretary of State will generally require you only to complete the ten-hour Risk Education course.

Level 2: Moderate Risk
If you have been assessed to be at moderate risk, the Secretary of State will require you to complete ten hours of Risk Education and participate in a minimum of 12 hours of early intervention services.

Level 2: Significant Risk
If you have been assessed to be at significant risk, the Secretary of State will require you to complete ten hours of Risk Education and participate in a minimum of 20 hours of substance abuse treatment services.

Level 3: High Risk
If you have been assessed to be at high risk, the Secretary of State will require you to complete ten hours of Risk Education, participate in a minimum of 75 hours of substance abuse treatment services, and actively participate in all activities specified in your continuing care plan.
