Staff Therapist – with St. Francis Hospital (Full-time)

The Adult and Adolescent Staff Therapist is a member of the SUD Treatment Program, and reports to the SUD Treatment Program Director. The Adult and Adolescent Staff Therapist will provide services to clients with substance use disorders, dual-diagnosed clients, and clients with legal involvement. The caseload for this position will include working with adolescents and families as well as adult cases. The Adult and Adolescent Staff Therapist will provide individual psychotherapy, group therapy and support services, including appropriate case management functions by the client’s treatment plan and goals. This position will also provide outreach at St. Francis hospital two days per week in order to connect patients to treatment services. This position requires evening availability.
Job Duties
- Provide individual and group psychotherapy and related case management services, as assigned. Responsibilities include: providing primary therapist functions as assigned; providing therapy, assessments and case management; and providing regular review of client progress.
- Complete timely, accurate, and appropriate treatment planning and review, progress notes, drug test results, and record closings. Collect and record data for grants, reports, and ongoing quality improvement. Understand and follow the highest ethical standards and confidentiality laws.
- Ensure the SUD Treatment Program Manager is kept abreast of all aspects of the program and services. Offer suggestions that support program development and improved services.
- Participate as a team member and use the interdisciplinary team to provide quality services for clients. Fill in for SUD Treatment Program staff as needed.
- Build and maintain strong, positive, collaborative relationships with PEER staff, supervisors and program partners.
- Maintain current knowledge of substance use treatment and interventions by participating in ongoing continued education and training opportunities.
- Meet program and professional goals as defined in collaboration with the SUD Treatment Program Manager. Maintain licensure and certification and complete all trainings required by funders and other regulatory bodies.
- Support PEER Services fundraising and community events. Attend and participate in organizational, program, and team meetings and activities.
- Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by the SUD Treatment Program Manager.
- Maintain a 65% caseload
Job responsibilities at AMITA St. Francis Hospital (SFH) in Evanston include:
- Establishing rapport with patients with substance use/dependence in the emergency room or inpatient units;
- Providing education about substance use/dependence, treatment and recovery;
- Motivate patients toward treatment using harm reduction and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Facilitating treatment intake appointments where appropriate;
- Building relationships and working effectively with the SFH team and other agencies providing services at SFH.
Classification, Compensation, Work Schedule, and Benefits:
- This is a regular, full-time, exempt, 40 hours per week position.
- Compensation starts at $53K annually, with higher compensation available for candidates with additional experience and qualifications.
- Work hours will be based on the needs of the program and staff availability. Option to work remote one day per week after trial period.

- Clinicians receive weekly supervision towards their licensure.
Qualifications:
- Either a Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or other related field with licensure obtained within 90 days and 1-2 years of experience (including internships) OR CADC licensure with 3-5 years of experience
- Be sensitive and aware of current issues in the field of substance abuse.
- Understanding and a commitment to Harm Reduction and Trauma-Informed Care.
- Working knowledge of alcohol and other drug pharmacology.
- Must be flexible and adaptable and able to adjust work schedules, as needed.
- Must own a vehicle with insurance and willing to work out of Evanston and travel to program sites and events.
